Delete your Familinx account
Last updated 23 October 2026 · App: Familinx (app.familinx)
You do not need to ask us. Deleting your account is built into the app, it is immediate, and it cannot be undone. Everything below explains exactly what goes and what stays.
Delete it in the app
-
Open your profile
On the home screen, tap your avatar at the top. That opens Profile.
-
Tap Delete Account
It is at the bottom of Profile, below Edit Profile and Sign Out. A dialog explains what will happen; tap Continue.
-
Prove it is you
Enter your password, or sign in with Google again if that is how you sign in. We ask every time — being signed in is not enough, because an unlocked phone is also signed in.
-
Confirm
The account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. There is no grace period and nothing to undo.
Or ask us by email
If you cannot reach the app — you lost the phone, or you cannot sign in — email privacy@familinx.app from the email address on the account, with "Delete my account" in the subject.
We reply within 30 days and usually much sooner. We may need to confirm it is really you before we delete anything — an account deletion that anyone could request by email would not be a safety feature.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in credentials and your Google link, if you had one.
- Your email address and display name.
- Your membership of the family, and your parent or child role.
- Your personal lists and everything on them.
- Your personal budget accounts and the transactions recorded in them.
- The categories you created yourself.
- Your push notification tokens and your device records — your phone stops receiving notifications.
- Your app settings and preferences.
The copy held on your own phone goes when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
What stays with your family
Shared records belong to the family, not to whoever typed them. If a parent's departure erased the family's shopping list and the whole history of the shared account, the rest of the family would lose their own records because someone else left. So shared things stay.
- Shared lists and their items — they simply lose their owner.
- Shared budget accounts, with their transactions and balances. These are the family's financial history.
- Savings goals and the contributions made to them, including yours. A contribution belongs to the goal the family is saving for.
- The family itself, its name, and its remaining members.
- A small departure record — your display name and which family you left — so your family's phones can take you off their member list instead of showing a member who no longer exists. It is erased when the family is.
Your name may also remain visible in your family's records as the person who added a transaction or ticked off an item, for the same reason: it is part of their history of what happened.
Deleting the whole family
A parent can delete the family itself: Settings → Family → Family Members → Delete family. That is a different action from deleting your own account, and it removes everything the family shared.
A deleted family is permanently erased 30 days later — all of its lists, accounts, transactions, categories, savings goals and memberships, in one pass that cannot be reversed.
How long it takes
| Action | When it takes effect |
|---|---|
| Delete account, in the app | Immediately |
| Delete account, by email | Within 30 days of us confirming it is you |
| A deleted family's data | Permanently erased after 30 days |
| Copies in backups | Overwritten as backups rotate. We do not restore a backup to bring a deleted account back |
Things you might want instead
- Leaving a family but keeping your account — Settings → Family → Family Members, or ask a parent to remove you.
- Stopping notifications — Settings → Notifications → What you get notified about, per type. You do not have to delete an account to get quiet.
- Stopping crash reports and usage statistics — Settings → Notifications, the "Share crash reports" and "Share usage statistics" switches. Both are off unless you turned them on.
- A copy of your data — email privacy@familinx.app before you delete the account, not after. Once it is gone we cannot produce it.
